From Social Media to Mobile Media

The Revolution:

iZigg Mobile

Mobile Media Marketing

We are all aware of the use of social media to connect businesses and their customers. If you have a business and you have not developed a way for your customers to connect with you, at the very least through Facebook and Twitter, you are behind the times and losing out on those valuable connections. These connections enable you to stay in front of your customers online, where many of them are.

This was new to businesses not too long ago, but businesses quickly figured out that they had to move to Social Media advertising. Now, the next step is already here, businesses are again moving to embrace this new wave in customer connectivity, Mobile Media Marketing.

Mobile Media Marketing

Mobile Media Marketing is connecting with customers through their most prized possession, their cell phone. When Navteq, a leader in digital map technology, surveyed consumers about location based ads, seventy-eight percent of consumers welcome these ads on their mobile devices when it can guide them to nearby retailers and offers.

In addition, 42 percent of participants that were exposed to a brand, recalled seeing that brand, and 31 percent who reported seeing an ad on their device clicked that ad for information to nearby locations.

So, how are most companies using Text Marketing? Simple, they compose a message of 160-characters or less that includes something of value from their company or a chance to win XYZ, send it out to their opt-in list and voila’ – you have just reached out to your most valued asset your customer, instantly. The uses of text message advertising are endless: timely promotions, contests, special offers, feedback, holiday greetings, just to name a few.

Mobile Media Marketing and the Customer

The key to this type of advertising is the instant gratification that your customers get, along with the opportunity to truly connect and engage with them at a much higher level than ever before. This is the 4G of marketing and sales! People are looking down … down at their cell phones, iPads and lap tops. This is where you need to be, right in front of their eyes, again, giving them instant gratification.

Another key to text advertising, is that it is permission based. Along with that comes a much greater consumer response and instant connection with your new customers. If you are not using this type of advertisement you are losing out on one of the greatest connectors ever.

Some statistics that are very compelling are: SMS text messaging is the most widely used data application in the world, with 2.4 billion active users, or 74% of all mobile phone subscribers. Eighty Six percent of Americans own mobile phones, 68.7 million are frequent text users. Ninety Seven percent of text messages are opened within an hour of being received. In 2008, 4.1 trillion SMS (Short Message Service) text messages were sent, many using short codes (More on short codes in my next post). SMS has become a massive commercial industry, worth over 81 billion dollars globally as of 2006. America is now embracing this trend at break neck speed!

When you see the way society has embraced and moved toward this technology, you can’t help but get a glimpse of where we are headed, that is towards greater business and customer interaction. No longer are the big billboards drawing the eyes but the advertising that is in the palm of the consumers hands.

The new wave of advertising is here, you better grab a board!!!

In an earlier post, Wordpress blogs being hacked I described the stress that I felt when I could not get into and edit my WordPress blog. I was wondering if the sky was falling! But, cooler heads prevailed and I came out of that knowing more about WordPress.org and how to protect my data etc.

The problem as I see it is just the nature of electronics and the ever growing number of people using them. Not to mention the people out there that want to reek havoc on the rest of us through hacking, just because they can not figure out how to be happy any other way.

That is why I was not angry at WordPress, as they were the ones being attacked. The advantage that I have is that my blog is self hosted. Meaning, I have control over what happens to it. I not only own the content, I also own the URL. I can move it and have it hosted wherever I want to. I do not have to rely on WordPress.com to keep their heads out of the clouds, (another pun intended) and keep my site up and running.

So, as I said, I was not angry at WordPress, but when I got up this morning and read about WordPress.com going down and taking millions with it, I was pretty upset. Not for myself, but for those out there that have not heeded the warnings about hosting their sites on free services. There is a difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, WordPress.org provides the blogging platform but you then have it hosted at your discretion. WordPress.com gives you none of those freedoms and it is not helping you in other ways that you will see below.

I think that many are afraid to change, or do not want to take the time to change. Some may feel that they have spent a considerable amount of time promoting that blog, and feel like they cannot let go of it. Well, what if that site crashes or worse shuts down now you have lost your blog site altogether. So, it is maybe difficult to make that decision for some. The bottom line is you just have to bite the bullets and do it. You will be a lot better off in the end. Luckily it is not that hard to change your site, it does take some time, but there are many how-tos on Youtube that can walk you through it. The rewards will be many.

One advantage of switching is that you have more control over your ranking and Google will reward you for that. Having your site hosted by one of those free sites is like having a replicated site for your direct sales business, and Google does not like them. To boost up your self hosted site you are in control of the SEO, search engine optimization, and thus have more control over your success.

If it is self hosted, like I said you not only own the content, you also own the site name, or URL. The advantages of that is that you have the freedom to do whatever you want with your site. You can have whatever theme you want, advertise whatever you want, and with all of the plug-ins and widgets that are available you can jazz it up to your liking. So, for me the benefits definitely out weighted the cost.

Have a great day and I wish you happy blogging whatever you choose to do,

First of all it is important to really understand what you are dealing with in a mortgage. So many people have mortgages that everyone just thinks that it is “normal”. But, if we are knew what we were paying for, for that “privilege” we would be pretty upset.

Well I am mad as *ell and I am not going to take it anymore! … Did you know that in the first five years 80% of your payment goes to interest? Did you know that on a 30 year mortgage it is not until your 21st year of paying on that mortgage that you are half way done? If you have a $200,000 mortgage at 6% interest for 30 year, by the time you get it paid off, if you have not applied any additional monies to principal, you will have paid a total of $431,677.

Would it make since to keep some of that money for yourself instead of giving it to the bank? I think so. But aren’t there reasons to keep a mortgage? Some people ask, “Should I pay off my mortgage instead of investing?” Well, I say do both, look for a more balanced approach. If you pay off your mortgage it is going to reduce your need for cash flow when you go into retirement. You should try to get out of debt, times are uncertain, and the less debt you are shackled with, the better you are going to be able to deal with whatever economic difficulties arise. It is clear, the banks have the population brain washed when it comes to paying off their mortgage. Just remember it is the banks and mortgage companies making millions on all of that interest being paid.

Other people say you need the tax write off. Well a financial planner and author of Grow Your Money! 101 Easy Tips to Plan, Save, and Invest, Jonathan Pond, states that you need to be in the 35 percent tax bracket, or make at least $350,000 annually, for the tax break to be worthwhile. Most Americans are in the 25 percent tax bracket and they might pay, say $10,000 in mortgage interest but save only $2,500 in taxes. Put another way, if you were in the 30 percent tax bracket and you pay $100.00 in interest, you get to write it off, so you reduce your taxes by $30.00 ($100 x 30%), but what about the other $70.00? It would make more since to let the government keep their $30.00 and you keep the $70.00! Now don’t get me wrong it is nice to have a write off for mortgage interest while you have a mortgage, but that is not a sound reason for having one. In addition to that, the further along in your mortgage you are, the less you have to write off, reducing the benefit even further.

Paying off your mortgage is the smart thing to do. It is all in the math! If you pay taxes rather than paying interest, you are ahead of the game, as noted above. Furthermore, if some of your money is in your house and not all in the market and the market crashes, guess what, you still have your house.

Another consideration, however, is the state of the housing market. Not everyone is in the same situation. There are those that have purchased in the down market and it would be obvious that they would greatly benefit from this. Those that are upside down, may not see the value of this, but if they want to keep their house, paying it off early would save them thousands of dollars in interest. The amount saved in interest could turn their economic future around. You should invest what you can in an investment program and find a system that helps you pay off your mortgage faster.

To see how people are paying their mortgage off and discovering debt free living you can go to Living Debt Free, do not be fooled by the banks and lenders. You can have a brighter future and help pass this wealth on to the next generation. Come and learn so that you can teach them what your parents did not know.

The evolution of network marketing continues to happen and it is getting more and more fun. People are no longer willing to consume a product that someone says is good for them and will do XYZ, and start selling it. As Internet Marketing grows, people are exposed to a lot of different types of companies and different types of products. In this post I am going to explain where I see these changes happening.

Avon was at the very beginning of the wonderful thing we call network marketing, all the way back in the 1890’s. In the 1940’s most of the new direct sales/network marketing companies sold household products or natural vitamins, such as the ones from Shakley, which are still around today.

As Americans started aging in the 1990’s and we became more health conscience, there were more and more wellness products sprouting up every day. Every type of juice, pill and powder can be found in abundance. From the Acia Berry of Brazil to the Aloe based products of Hawaii, they are everywhere.

Now I am seeing a shift to more intellectual products, ones that are computer based, such as data collection, personal and business training and development, and even personal finances. Another trend is towards commodities such as, gold and silver. I see us moving into the golden years (no pun intended ) of network marketing.

Because these companies are making money and are becoming very popular, and people see how well they are doing, there are going to be copy cats. As always it is in your best interest to preform your due diligence in researching the company and product. Many times these copy cats are not well thought out or well developed. They are created on the fly by people that just see an opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

These copy cats many times make it very easy to sign up. That is, for free! Well, we all know that free never pays out. How can it? When they “launch” they will come asking for money, but for what? Be cautious when looking at companies like this. It is best to get a second opinion from someone that you trust and check it out on MLMWatch.org (although the information on this site is a little dated and is focused on MLMs selling wellness products) or you can check with MLMWatchdog.com.

So, as this evolution continues be reminded to ask lots of questions and search upline to find where the money is. Once you find it, ask what it will take to get there. You have to know when you can expect a return on your investment and then, when you will actually turn a profit.

Keep your eyes open for more of these data collection companies to come along. This is the information age and data is king. Data has always been in great demand and the use of network marketing to do the collection is a trend that I see just starting and one that will continue far into the future.

What do you think? What kind of data collection do you see that can be converted to an MLM? Remember there needs to be some sort of product to be a legitimate MLM. Leave your comments below.

Search Engine Optimization is one of the most important aspects of online marketing. In an earlier post I talked about branding yourself online using a blog. Well, if no one ever sees that blog then it is really not very helpful. In addition to your blog, you need to have a webpage or capture page where you can send people to that contain the product or service that you are marketing. Just as you want people to find your blog you also want people to find your marketing website.

There are two ways to help people find your website through Google. … One is Pay Per Click search or the paid advertising that is on the right side of the Google search page results, and the other is the organic search results which are what are on the left side of the page.

It is on the left side where SEO (Search Engine Optimization) comes into play. Rather than pay to get your site on the first page of Google, you need to optimize your website so that Google sees it as relevant. This relevancy will put you on the first page for your key words if … the sun is shining, all of the planets are exactly aligned and you are projecting pure thoughts. But seriously, it does seem that you have about that much control of it! You may even feel powerless, but you are not, you just need to learn what makes Google find you and “see” you as valuable and relevant.

There are some things that you can do to your site that are extremely important to do, and I will list those here, but something that you need to know is that this only accounts for around 25% of what Google is looking at in terms of your site.

This is what Google is looking at:

The Page Title – It should focus on your keywords

Your URL – It should also focus on your keywords

Headings – You should have several

Text – To look for content and how the text is formatted, such as the emphasis put on bold type words etc.

Description – It should be relevant to the page

The other 75% of the decision is made from the off page, or links to your website/blog. This is harder to control but obviously very important to figure out. First Google looks at you site to evaluate how important or relevant your site is and gives it a score. This score if from 0-10. Something that is interesting about this scales is that it is exponential, that is to say, that it is more difficult to go from 6 up to 7 than it is to go from 3 up to 4. So, the higher you go the harder it is to move up. For Google to decide to move you up or not, they are looking for what other people think of your site. If others are linking to it then they see it as a recommendation. To get those links you need to promote your site through other sites.

There are many ways to do this, but you should probably start with the website directories. Look around until you find ones that looks like they are in good shape and maintained. Another way is to partner with other companies or sites that you do business with and have them link back to your site.

To have your site linked back to, it has to have good content and you have to be active. So now we are back to the basics, you want to have content on your site that is interesting and/or helpful, this will cause people to link back to your site. To be active you need to be on social sites, reading and posting in other blogs, answering questions in forums or even in wikis. You could even send out press releases about an event or new product that you have.

Finally just a few other pointers, each key word needs its own page, do not put all of your key words in one post and then send all your traffic there. Your posts should be specific to the key word. It is not the length of the post that matters on your blog but the number of pages. If you want to use flash on your website, some is OK. However, do not use it a lot, Google can not read the flash so it does not add to the site in terms of Google ranking. Lastly, where you host your site does not matter, it is all about the URL. There is a lot to learn and it is best to find a good resource and study it well. Now go get optimized!!!

I hope that you found this helpful, leave me a comment and let me know.

Advertising has been a way of sharing ideas and getting the “word out” about products and/or services from the beginning of time, or at least since we have been trying to communicate. The first signs of advertisement can be dated back almost 25,000 year ago on the walls of the caves in the hills of France. These were Stone Age people advertising the hunting prowess to their fellow hunters. Moving ahead in time to Babylon around 3500 B. C., sketches where drawn on soft clay tablets and set with a runner to advertise to the neighboring clans letting them know what they had to trade or other descriptive information.

…

We can also look to Egypt, about 1100 B. C. where an Egyptian aristocrat sent out a notice on papyrus that one of his valuable slaves had run away and he is offering a reward for his return. Papyrus was used for centuries as a precursor to the newsprint of today. The advent of the town crier was a big step forward. He added flare and excitement to the advertisement, in addition to making it more accessible to the general public.

As we move forward, we see the collapse of the Roman Empire and with this a reduction in the amount of writing, yet the crier continued to be a great source of information. This information was disseminated to the public by an organized body of advertisers and employees of the state. Each has his own peculiar call and when heard, people would come running from their homes to hear. These criers had exclusive rights to news of auctions and other sales. The crier made it easier for the public to hear about upcoming weddings, Christenings, and funerals, as well as, letting people know about royal decrees, and the offering of products and services.

During the Medieval times, the English medieval guilds and the large city companies used the equivalent of the now popular poster boards. The industries of the time, the weavers, goldsmiths, potters all developed attractive signs to be displayed on the front of their stores to draw the attention of the people passing by, not unlike the store front signs of today.

Then came the printing press, William Caxton brought the first printing press to England in 1477, and before long all the businesses and even the churches had signs posted on the doors and windows. In 1632, Nathaniel Butter started the Weekly News in London and he posted the first ad, but the first publication to get paid for an ad was Mist’s Weekly Journal. Not until Sir Robert L’Estrage saw the “writing on the wall” with his three publications, (1669), did advertising really begin as an industry.

In America, being a virtual duplication of England, we carried on with the same traditions, the criers, poster ads and periodicals. In 1704 the American Weekly was founded, it was 74 years later that the first daily newspaper came along. The first magazine appeared in 1741 in Philadelphia. So, as these different types of media came into being, more people were looking to them for useful and pertinent information. A very interesting note about adverting and magazines is that advertising in magazines was looked down upon by the public and businesses alike. It was looked at, as not only un-valuable, but as an object of contempt.

Not until 1870 when Scribner’s finally decided to include advertising in its magazine did others join in and start generating ad revenue for themselves. The value of this advertisement can be seen in hindsight in a most remarkable way. In 1870 the average life span was 45 years old. Then in large part because of the advertising of sanitary and health building products and the new ideas presented in the widely disseminated periodicals, by 1930 the average life span had increased to 60. That means that over a 60 year period the average life span increased by 15 years. That was a remarkable advancement in the well being of the citizens of this nation.

As we know deceptive and harmful advertising was, of course, prevalent at times, however, the benefits to the mass public were such that the value of advertising was accepted by both businesses and consumers alike.

Advertising has grown to such heights that in 2007 total U.S. advertising spending was over $150 billion. It is quite apparent, that advertising is here to stay, and that, in truth, it is a benefit to both parties involved.

You may be thinking something like this: …

You have a business opportunity that you like and it is going alright, but you just would like to be more successful. You have been online for awhile and you feel like this is where you want to market. You are on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and other sites like you should be and you are talking to people, but you still want more.

If that sounds like you or someone in your organization I have some good news for you!

If I could show you a system that will educate and train you and your leads to be successful online, do you think you might be interested?

What if I let you try it out first for 14 days for a buck, are you curious yet?

Here is some of the background for this system. You may have heard of Mike Dillard, he is one of the online gurus. He has over 100,000 people on his list of leads, can you image that! Well this system blueprint is his brain child and three other gurus took that blueprint and developed this system that is creating many more successful leaders online everyday.

I cannot put in words the quality of this training. The new and different techniques that the members of this system have added in the back office make this system the best source on the internet. I know that is saying a lot, but that is a fact.

So, now just click this banner and sign up for your trial period. I will be shocked if you do not find exactly what I have told you and more.

How many times have you heard that in the MLM industry that you have to have a duplicatable system? This will ensure that you can train your new recruits the best way to build their business. We assume that everyone should be able to build a business the way we have.

Well, I am now of the opinion that it is not so much about having a duplicatable system, as it is … about having a variety of different marketing methods available for your new recruit to choose from. The duplicatable system assumes that we are all good at the same things and we all learn in the same manner.

So, a multifaceted system would seem like a better choice. This system should have a wide variety of marketing methods. If you choose to market online there is a plethora of methods to choose from. You may be good at writing, so article marketing is a good choice. If you are good at speaking then you can use YouTube to do your presentations and get your message out. There is a method for every person out here. More important than duplicating your system, is to help your new recruits figure out that they want to do in a short amount of time and then make sure that they stay focused on it until it works for them. If you are going to do article marketing you cannot give up after you put out a couple of articles and do not get any leads. It is about consistency and long term effort. It will pay off down the road and for a long time to come.

I am not sure why it is such a mantra in this industry because of all the big successful groups out there, they all did it differently. So, why should we think that we have to all do it the same. The important thing is to get going right away and stay committed to what you choose.

To your success,

There are many considerations to think about when you are marketing and selling. It does not matter if you are doing this in a brick and mortar operation or an online business. A major consideration is the buying personalities of your target market.

It is important in any sales situation to be able to figure out which category your potential client is in. There are five categories, as well as many sub categories, but I am only going to talk about the top five.

The first one is the apathetic buyer. This person is completely negative and it does not matter what you say or do they are not going to buy. It is best to figure this one out early, and politely excuse yourself from their presence as soon as possible, no need to waste your time!

The analytical buyer is… all about the details. They like to know exactly how it all works. They want to know everything and they are not concerned with the amount of time that you have to spend telling them. If your product is more nuanced it is going to be very difficult to sell to them. However, if your product is based on facts and figures then you are in luck!

Another buying personality is the emotional, relationship-oriented buyer. They are more concerned about what other people’s reaction to the product is. They want to know how it is going to effect others, as well as themselves. They want to make sure that this purchase will not have a negative effect on the people around them. They are very interested in testimonials, so make sure you have those available.

Then there is the entrepreneurial, practical and task focused buyer, they just want the bottom line. How is this product going to benefit me, just give me the facts, that is all they want. If you can show them the main benefit directly they will probably buy on the spot.

Finally is the self-actualizing buyer who knows exactly what they want and what they want to pay. They are usually already looking for that product and if you have it, they are gong to buy. We all wish we could see more of these I am sure!

It is a learned skill to be able to figure out which one of the different buying personalities your potential client has. You can not sell all people the same way and the sooner you figure that out the more sales you will be able to make. This is done through asking questions. The first part of your sales presentation should be focused on these questions and figuring out what type of buyer they are and what, if any, emotional hot buttons they have.

With the exception of the analytical buyer, the buying decision is an emotional one. Spending the time to make sure they know that your product has the highest quality on the market, without making an emotional connection is a waste of time and effort. Focus on asking them questions and creating an emotional connection, and you will be on your way to closing all the sales you want.

Happy trails…..

Happy sales…..
